Carbost
Carbost (Càrrabost in Gaelic) means copse or brushwood farm. Carbost is a small village on the south shore of Loch Harport in the parish of Bracadale on the Isle of Skye. Talisket (Gaelic talamh sgeir or talaisgeir) means Land of the Cliff or Sloping Rock.
The Talisker distillery at Carbost was founded in 1830 by Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill, and built in 1831 at Carbost  after they acquired the lease of Talisker House, traditionally the home of the second sons of the chiefs of Clan MacLeod. The distillery was rebuilt 1880–87 and extended in 1900 and the distillery remains the only whiskey distillery on Skye.
