Gardenstone
Gardenstown lies eight miles east of Banff in Aberdeenshire in northeast Scotland and gets its name from Alexander Garden, who founded the fishing village in 1720. In 1875 the parish church was built separating it from the Gamrie parish in 1885
Built in 1513, the remains of the Church of St John the Evangelist are visible from most parts of Gardenstown up on the hill to its west. This church celebrates the defeat of the Danes in the Battle of the Bloody Pits in 1004.
By the 1920s the area housed 250 fishermen and 50 fishing boats, this number declined largely over the years due to larger and more effective vessels being used from other ports.
In 1953 the path between neighbouring Crovie and Gardenstown was washed away in a storm, along with sea defences and two houses..
In May 2007, a TV series titled The Baron was filmed in and around the village.
