Established in 1909 by W. Parke Evans, the Strathmore Standard found its roots with the utilization of machinery, notably a seven-ton Wharfedale press from Edinburgh, Scotland. This press had once been a crucial component in the production of the Calgary Herald, Edmonton Bulletin and Journal, and the Gleichen Call. Over the years, the Strathmore Standard had various changes in ownership and names. In 1970, and the building, along with its equipment, changed hands for $5,800 when acquired by Heritage Park. Ron Newsom, a former editor of the Bashaw Star, (using donated old parts from several Alberta newspapers), restored the Strathmore Standard into a functional representation of a typical pre-1915 prairie newspaper plant and office.
Stepping back in time with Heritage Park Actors Street Theatre, where they offer a range of street theatre performances. Set against the backdrop of the park's natural and man-made attractions, gardens, and pathways, the theatre transports visitors to a bygone era.
The locomotive at Heritage Park was constructed in 1944 by the Lima Locomotive Works in Lima, Ohio, and originally served as US Army 4076. After being sold to Pacific Coast Terminals in New Westminster, BC, it operated as a switching locomotive until 1965. In 1967, it found a new home at Calgary's Heritage Park, assuming the guise of a Canadian Pacific engine and utilizing a locomotive number not present in the official roster.

The train features a 1.3km loop track with three stations. Starting at Midnapore, situated near the park's entrance, proceeding to Shepard station, with a notable pass by ç station. Shepard station is of historical significance, catering to the historic village, the S.S Moyie steamship dock, and the railcar museum and roundhouse. The journey continues, traversing Midnapore station, before making a stop at Laggan station.
